All this month, I've been sharing posts on Bible prophecy. And for June's final memo, I'm sharing what may be my favorite prophetic topic of all. Earth's Final Revival. It's what inspires me and keeps my hope strong day by day. May it do the same for you...

There are many important prophecies in the book of Revelation: The Beast, The False Prophet, the Mark of the Beast, and Armageddon. There are the two women, and the two witnesses. The prophecies of the seven churches, seven seals, seven trumpets, and more. They are all fascinating and important topics. And we cover several of these in our Prophecy: Fact or Fiction class.

If your church has conducted a prophecy series recently, for your community, the speaker probably touched on many, or all of these subjects.

But there is one prophecy he likely skipped over. And it may well be the most important prophecy in the whole book. When my mind skims through the contents of Revelation--I can't help but be drawn to one specific prediction. It stands out like a mountain peak, dwarfing all those other topics:

Revelation 18:1And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.

It is an amazing prophecy, isn't it? These words point forward to a time of great spiritual light and power. An awakening, an enlightenment, a refreshing of God's people. It's the last great outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Earth's final revival. And it's just ahead for God's people.

The next few verses, confirm the timing of it. A quick look at Revelation 19 makes it clear this revival takes place before the second coming of Jesus. And more specifically, Revelation 18:4And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. suggests it will be shortly before the door of mercy closes for planet earth--while people still have the ability to come out of Babylon and choose Christ. And that this revival, in fact, is what powers the last warning call to the world, given just before the plagues begin to fall.

Anyone who believes the return of Christ is near, has to conclude this final revival is even closer!

Of course, this is not the only place this great revival is mentioned. Habakkuk points to a time when "the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea" (Habakkuk 2:14For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.). Isaiah predicts a time when God will say to his people "arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee" (Isaiah 60:1Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.). Ezekiel foretells a time when God promises to "put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them" (Ezekiel 36:27And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.). Micah describes a time "in the last days" when "the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it" (Micah 4:1-21 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. 2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.). And then there's the promise in the book of Joel: "it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit" (Joel 2:28-2928 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.).

This list is hardly exhaustive. The Old Testament prophetic books are full of many similar promises. They point repeatedly to a time of spiritual blessing, and great victory for God's people. Don't you long for that day to come?

I've definitely been looking forward to this revival for a long time: studying, praying, and researching it at every opportunity, for years. Because of its vital importance in Bible prophecy, I've been both intentional and focused on understanding everything about it I can. My first book (For Such A Time), in fact, was written on this very subject.

And my longing for this revival today, is just as strong as it was then...

Something is Different

Ultimately my studies have brought me to the conclusion this revival will be unlike any of the other revivals that have come before in the history of the Christian church. Past revivals have all had one thing in common: they have come and gone. They burn brightly in some specific spot for a time, then fade away. They may spread a bit, or last a time. But inevitably they've always fizzled out.

The final revival will be different. It starts somewhere, maybe several places at once--but then it burns steadily. Rather than dissipating, it actually strengthens. Even more, it starts to spread from place to place, until little by little, the whole world is swallowed up. Like a raging fire, it will be impossible to contain or control, until every nook and cranny of this planet is consumed. A large percentage of the world's population will refuse this blessing, but no one will escape it impact.

“Like a raging fire, it will be impossible to contain or control the final revival, until every nook and cranny of this planet is consumed.”

And even then, as probation begins to close, and God's people go through the final scenes of testing described in Revelation, this revival will not dim one bit, but rather continue to grow brighter and stronger. Actually, it is this outpouring of the Spirit that prepares God's people for the impending crisis. Rather than being limited to one location, or one point in time, or one speaker, or one event--this revival will become a global movement of unthinkable power...

The Implication

The implication of all this, is that for God's people to participate in this kind of outpouring, they are going to have to understand revival more fully. They are going to need to learn how to cooperate with God more completely. To grasp the dynamics of being Spirit-filled, Spirit-led, Spirit-empowered. They will need to become more intelligent about what true revival is and how it works. On the one hand they must know how to deadbolt the door against every kind of fanaticism. But on the other, they must know how to give the Holy Spirit unfettered access to the heart. They will have to understand how to safeguard the experience, nurture it, cultivate it, deepen it, and ultimately, communicate it to others. They will need to know how to become spiritually contagious.

To experience this revival, to participate fully in this prophesied outpouring of the Spirit, they are going to have to understand more fully how the Holy Spirit works. Only then can God trust us with this kind of power...

To put it differently, earth's final revival:

Is not going to happen by accident or chance
Is not going to be mere emotionalism
Is not just some transitory spiritual high
Is not going to come and then fade away
Is not going to be tied to some speaker
Is not going to be limited to one location
Is not going to fizzle out or dissipate

Rather, it will be pursued intelligently. It will be principle-based, firmly rooted in Scripture. It is going to produce genuine repentance and life transformation. And it is going to persist. In fact, it will only grow stronger and stronger. And it is going to spread, rapidly. Ultimately, it will be given without measure (John 3:34For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.).

Yes, it's going to be a different kind of revival than anything we have seen yet. But it's exactly the kind of revival we need today!

The Time is Now

Years ago, I stumbled on to a small booklet on Revival and Reformation--and it had a great impact on my life. It actually started my thinking along these lines. It makes clear this topic is important.

A revival of true godliness among us is the greatest and most urgent of
all our needs. To seek this should be our first work. (I SM, p 121).

It also suggests this is something God's people can, and must, learn:

The old standard bearers knew what it was to wrestle with God in
prayer, and to enjoy the outpouring of His Spirit. But these are passing
off from the stage of action; and who are coming up to fill their places?
How is it with the rising generation? (I SM, p 122).

And while the enemy may attempt to oppose us, if we master these principles at last, revival is certain:

There is nothing that Satan fears so much as that the people of God shall clear the way by removing every hindrance, so that the Lord can pour out His Spirit upon a languishing church and an impenitent congregation. If Satan had his way, there would never be another awakening, great or small, to the end of time. But we are not ignorant of his devices. It is possible to resist his power. When the way is prepared for the Spirit of God, the blessing will come.

These quotations give me bright hope for the future.

So let's ask for this final revival. Intelligently, and in faith--knowing it is time for the Spirit of God to be poured out on His people. Let's seek to understand more clearly how the Holy Spirit works, so we can cooperate more fully with God, and give Him more complete sway in our life. Let's seek to study the dynamics of revival, how to pursue it, preserve it, and propagate it. And let's be persevering in our quest for revival, that we can be part of that group who experiences this amazing time of blessing and power promised to God's endtime people!

We know God is going to give many last minute calls to people and many will respond, but you are also right we need to live the most exemplary lives possible in the meantime, to give them the very best chance or responding properly. Good post Carlota!

My feelings are a mixture of emotions. Even though it’s not solely for me, but for my family, both immediate and extended. I pray daily, and every time I think of it for myself and them. I pray that they would see Jesus in me, in everything I do, act, and say. I try to have positive thoughts at all times, and words of encouragement always.
May the Lord of harvest keep me/us on the right path, directing us to the right doors in our communities. Luke 10:2-112 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. 3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. 4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way. 5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. 6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. 7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. 8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: 9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. 10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, 11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

That's a beautiful prayer Barbara. It's one thing to pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our own life. Something else to pray it for someone else...
Posted by Barbara E. LaRose on 03/18/23
I’m going to answer this just a bit different than I usually would and say: I am praying for this outpouring of beautiful light upon my bible study person. In these last short days that we have, I really desire for this person to see the truth shine as never before and be truly blessed by the truth he is learning. I’m just really praying that the Holy Spirit will open his mind to the beautiful truths of God’s word and not be deterred by anything the devil does to discourage him. May this truth shine like the 4th Angel to awaken this darkened world. Thank you Pastor Dan for this beautiful reading. Come Holy Spirit we need you!!!

That's a beautiful description of what God wants for each of us. Thank you for articulating it so nicely. I'm sure many will be inspired to pray that same prayer after reading your post Sam!

I want to be strengthened in all areas of my life. I want to be molded and remolded until I reflect the character of God in all areas of my life. I want to be able to stay up all night in prayer wrestling with God and seeking the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. I want to not worry about anything because my trust in God is so full and complete. I want to feel my Saviour walking beside me as I walk around my home or wherever I go. I want to be a living sacrifice. I want people to look at me and know that I have been with the Lord. I want my face to shine with His glory. I remember growing up and Ny aunt face had a glow that you knew she had been in the presence of God, just like the angels must have. I was always envious of that glow, desiring that same closeness with the Creator. I want to talk to HIm like I can see HIm right next to me. I want to be 100% confident that I am going to be with God for the rest of eternity and get the chance to visit other planets and sit at Jesus' feet!

Thank you for sharing about our site with your friends Lisa. That means a lot to us. This is an important topic! And it's definitely time to understand these things better, as the final scenes seem just ahead.

Thanks for the article Dan....it was very interesting so much that I shared it with everyone that I know on WhatsApp. I'm not sure I knew the reference to Revelation 18:1And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. so, I was excited to read. Thanks again.

It is exciting to think that we could very well be the generation that experiences the culmination of God's final plans for planet earth. Let's keep praying and seek God Tina!

It is very excited to think about the earth final revival, because we all as individual need personal revival with the Lord as well as the revival as a whole church. I believe with God's divine help I am ready to receive this blessing. The area in life that I would like to be strengthen is that to have Christ holy character, and the victory over self, and the world and over come Satan's temptation. I believe studying God Holy Scripture and prayer are the keys to final revival on earth. So, let's ask the Holy Spirit to help teaching pouring the later rain fire of revival.
Posted by Denise Buglino on 08/17/20
Dan, this is a timely article. We are in the day of atonement for God's people and it is about to close. this is the time for those who wish to be the light unto the Gentiles and to arise and shine must be sealed. Their character must have been transformed into the image of Jesus and the work of cleansing have been completed - then the saint(s) wil receive the robe of righteousness and the full outpouring of the Holy Ghost. The people of God have always had the ministering Spirit of Christ to comfort, console, teach and guide them unto all truth. But now there will be a double measure of the Spirit of God the Father poured out upon the ready and cleansed people and probation for this special group of people will close.

There is so much more I wish to say. For example, the mountain is another way of refering to the mind. We want to flee to the mountain as we go to God in secret communion in our mind to pray and have Him reveal our character flaws, the secret things that belong unto God. We must confess and forsake them immediately and be changed step by step into His image. The mountain of the Lord is to be built up and we are to flee into it for safety as He is our Rock. All these words of scripture are analagous to spiritual things and their meaning will be revealed the more we study prayerfully asking for wisdom. God thru Christ, by His Spirit will commune with us through our mind which we must fortify with the Words of God (not TV, the internet, worldly entertainment, music, vain interests, etc) This is the final battle ground - the mind of man. Satan is attacking the mind on all fronts - has been doing it for years and not He wants total control of the mind. To sit on the throne of God - which should be our mind controlled by God not Satan. I could go on, but sufficient for now. God bless you and yes, these issue s are the loud cry which is happening now and will continue more and more. the HS is falling on hearts all around us, but many will not be aware. Christ is sealing up/ numbering His saints and His work for them will soon be ended and they will "rest" safely with Him through the evil days to come. The last call for the world will happen soon and then the door will be shut. Let's earnestly come to Him now as our situation is desperate and we are already in the hour of overwhelming surprises. God bless you and His people.

Yes, Joy. That's the passage people refer to when they use that phrase. Thanks so much for praying. It's the first prayer request in my prayer journal too...

Love your enthusiasm Karen! I can't wait to see more of God's Spirit poured out. Nothing else compares...

I feel the same way, with both concerns about being too busy, and about the division in our world today. But mostly about the desire to be so close to God, nothing can crowd out or divert our focus on Christ. Great post JoAnn!

I am excited about this final revival. I want to be part of it. I have felt awhile The need to pray to be ready. I feel the pull of being too busy and distracted. I pray against that and I want so much to be filled with the spirit. I want to be someone who can point others to Jesus when this revival starts. I also do not want to be deceived with false revival. Our world is so divided and I really don’t like that! I just want my trust to be Jesus. I need Him so much.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Amen and amen! I believe Revelation 18:1And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. is about to break forth.
The overview of the book of Revelation is so clear that the spiritual Babylon is fallen by the revival of the work of the Holy Spirit.
Posted by Joy Hank on 08/17/20
This is a prayer request of mine and I have used the Revelation 18:1And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. scripture. Just a question. Is this the 4th Angels message?
Posted by Dan Vis on 04/30/20 - Coach
It can be a bit intimidating when we think of the changes we know we need to make, but we can rejoice that God is right there with us, to help us. And He'll show us what steps to take, one step at a time. But in some ways, revival is encouraging--because it provides power by which these other things just fall away. That's what gets me excited Nan!
Posted by Nan Rice on 04/30/20
I am excited but fearful at the same time. Not fearful because Jesus is coming, but because I need to rid my life of things that are a hindrance to my spiritual progress. I need to get over my fear of rejection, my pride and my self-righteousness. I need to quit trying to be better and I need to pray more and trust more. I am one of those people who need to "let go and let God." I want to be courageous and I want to share how wonderful our God is!

Great verse, and definitely agree with your thoughts about how it applies. And I think your note about leadership being an important part of what's especially needed in these last days couldn't be more spot on. Good post John!

I think of Psalms 119:126It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law. and, for sure, the time for revival is now! I'm hoping not just to see that final revival, but to promote it. Areas to be strengthened? God knows better than I, but I'm aware of the need growth in leadership.

I need to the Holy Spirit to work in my life so I can "study the dynamics of revival, how to pursue it, to preserve it, and propagate it". This is what I, most importantly, look after, and I think should be the number one goal of every christian.

Thank you, Dan!

Really appreciate your transparency Clara. I think we've all known this for a long time, but at least for me personally, I've been reluctant to turn my whole attention toward this topic. But the urgency of the house seems to be pressing upon me, and saying this is the time. So I guess that means we're off! Love your prayer...

Seems like yesterday, but it's been almost six years since I got introduced to FAST, Dan. Time flies especially on a grand adventure with the Lord!
Posted by Dan Vis on 04/30/19 - Coach
Great quote Rhona. It goes right along with what we looked at in the True Education class, that all real development takes place through personal communion with God. You are right--that has to be the area we give our best attention to!

Basic Training is the foundation of all we've done at FAST, Berith, without a doubt. Virtually all our classes and study guides connect to it in one way or another. We're always expanding into new areas, but the core can never change. Glad you will be joining us for the class. Can you believe it's been 3 years since we offered this?
Posted by Berith Bermejo on 04/30/19
I'm very excited for this final revival. Whenever it's talked about, my heart burns. Am I ready? Getting ready might be the better answer than just yes or no.

Basic Training is my favorite of all the FAST courses I've taken so far. I feel it is the foundation, and I'm very glad to know it was the course that launched FAST. This was the first course I took with FAST, and it has led not only to my revival in the faith but growth in Christ as well.

This class comes at the right time. We have a couple of people that are going to start with BT in our fellowship, and this is a great way to supplement what we'll be learning offline. Isaiah 60:22A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time., Acts 19:20So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
Posted by Rhona Brown on 04/29/19
Gayle in light of what you said, what do you think of this quote? AA 85 " What was the strength of those who in the past have suffered persecution for Christ's sake? It was union with God, union with the Holy Spirit, union with Christ."

I am kind of thinking, if we develop that union we are focusing on Jesus and then we will be ready for what comes later.
Posted by Dan Vis on 04/29/19 - Coach
I agree completely Gayle that our focus is often misplaced! Great comment. While difficult times may be ahead, also exciting times. A period prophets have long sought to peer into and describe. But we will be able to experience!

A great prayer Dorothy Vance! I'm with you on that one. :)

Thank you for your powerful testimony Laurie. I've seen so many miracles take place through the years when people are simply shown how to have a deeper experience in the Scriptures. Let's keep pressing forward!

Good points Carole! Important reminders for sure...
Posted by Carole Bliss on 04/29/19
I am aware that God is coming soon. He is preparing His people to be ready. We must focus on Him, Hus Word, and seek to share Him with those who need to know Him. We must seek His Spirit daily to empower us. May we be faithful. Blessings Carole

I don't know how to put this in just a few words. Through discipleship training, specifically the Basic Training course that our class is currently finishing up, I feel I am witnessing (and experiencing) the beginning of this final revival. I am convicted that these first few seeds are going to grow and reproduce and explode! I see things happening. Threads of people being exposed to the knowledge of this training and what it does. Miracles in character transformation. Can't wait to see what happens next!
Posted by Dorothy Vance on 04/29/19
I love the term "spiritually contagious!" What an appt description of what we should be! May it be so in my life, is my earnest prayer.
Posted by Gayle Voigt on 04/29/19
This is an exciting prophecy and the time for it to be fulfilled is surely near. It's encouraging to read that this outpouring of the Spirit is what prepares God's people for the final crisis. I think we sometimes have eyesight problems--being farsighted by focusing on the time of trouble, knowing we're unprepared for the difficulties ahead. Rather, we need to focus on Jesus, and His promise of the Spirit before that time to prepare us for it. I think the implications you've specified are spot on! I'm eager to sign up for Basic Training.
